Open eye bolts are an externally threaded fastener with a unified thread pitch and a blunt point. At the end opposite the gimlet point the unthreaded section of the shank is turned into an incomplete circle leaving an opening of a specified distance through which a closed-end eye bolt or screw may pass. Stainless steel is a family of iron-based alloys that contain a minimum of approximately 11% chromium, a composition that prevents the iron from rusting, as well as providing heat-resistant properties.
